The most recent Basics Academy was held October 2-5, 2023 at DPSST. Come back again in a few weeks to see when it will be offered next! (It likely will be held September 9-12 but please do check back soon!)

Students learned all the important information to get them started as a chaplain to first responders, and to improve skills they have been using but wanted to carefully hone.

Academy students rubbed shoulders with chaplains from around Oregon and the cream of the crop when it comes to chaplaincy leadership and instruction. Classes started on Monday morning and ran through Thursday. We were excited to draw on many of these instructors to help you be the best you can be as a chaplain!

After registering, applicants received an automated acknowledgment from “Google Forms” with a subject that includes the word Registration and the name of the Academy registered for.

Cost: $399 – covered instruction, meals and lodging at DPSST. Please see our Payment page for info on how to pay online or by mail.

Chaplains serving in the State of Oregon have priority. Applicants must submit the following:

○ Proof of Background Check 
○ Ecclesiastical Endorsement
